We started 2005 with plans for a big Christmas
trip to Florida, but threw those plans out the window when Paul got a new job. We
ended up going to Ohio (Becky went twice), a hastily planned trip to Oregon
and Washington, and to Illinois (suburban St. Louis) for Thanksgiving.

even a covered bridge. Yes, there are some photos of the cousins
we'd been waiting to meet all our lives.) |

Scenes from our trip home from our Thanksgiving trip
to Illinois

Paul is a sucker for touristy items, such as this statue of Popeye
in Chester, Illinois - Right on the Mississippi River
|

The statue was erected to honor Popeye creator Elzie Crisler Segar,
who was born in Chester in 1894
|

Just a few miles to the East of Chester is this retired Highway
bridge.

Not quite a vacation but Paul, Danny, Crystal, and Angela spent a
day at the Astro-World amusement park on one of the last weekends it was
open.
|

|

Six Flags decided to close the park and sell it for cash. Soon
the skyline will change when the "Texas Cyclone" roller
coaster (far left) is dismantled. Hopefully it will be moved to
another park.
