This page has a series of screen
shots to give you an idea of how Storm works and how easy it is to handle
emergency closings with Storm 6.
[Back to the Storm Page] [Storm
Downloads] [Ordering Information]
Heres how
easy it is to organize your stations closing announcements:

 |
The Master Window
You may store an unlimited number of organizations in the
Master Table. Each organization has a unique closing code allowing
you to quickly enter and verify closing data when it comes to your
station. You may either manually assign the closing code and the
system checks for duplicates or you may allow the system to automatically
assign a code.

|
 |
The Closings Window
All active closings are on-screen at all times. All functions are
just a click away on the Storm Tool Bar. You can resize and reorganize the
grid columns, choose the list order by choosing from the drop-down box,
quickly jump to an entry by keying in a few letters, or use your mouse
wheel to scroll up and down the list. To add a closing, Click the
"New" button (the plus sign) to update a closing, double-click
on the grid or click the "Update" button (the pencil icon).

|
 |
Entering a Closing
When entering closings you first either enter a closing
code, the organization name, or click the "Find" button to
browse the Master list. Click the "Add to Master" button
to create a new master list entry, then immediately transfer the
information to a new closing record.

As you tab out of the entry field, your code or name is
automatically verified against the Master table. If a match is found
you are given the chance to approve or reject the entry.

If you choose "Yes" data is automatically
transferred from the Master Table to the closing entry fields. If no
match is found you may either scan for a listing in the Master Table, or
simply accept the name you entered for an "on the fly" entry.

Now just fill in the remaining data, save, and the closing
is added to the list. Note that you may choose from up to 10
different closing/delay messages, and choose which station list(s) on
which the closing announcement will appear. The "Announce
As" Name is an unlimited length field that appears on the closing
list. It can be the same as the Organization Name or, as below, can
be expanded to give a more exact description.

Preparing
Closing Lists
After one or more closings are in
the system you can print or display your list, or publish the list to an
html file and post it to your web site. The example shown below is
for printing but all three options have the same choices.

If you choose to print, the listing
appears on paper for use by your announcers.

On-Screen
Closing List with auto scroll
If you choose to "Display" the closings, a new window opens with
the latest closings information. There's even an auto-scroll
function so the list will move as you read it, similar to a teleprompter.

Manual FTP Publishing
If you chose to publish to HTML, the FTP publish window
opens. Fill in your information one time then your information is
stored so next time you just click and publish.

Automatic html
and FTP feature
New to Storm 6 is the ability to automatically generate
and publish an html list. All you need to do is start a separate
program (Included with Storm) define the parameters, click a button and
walk away. You may leave the program running as long as you
wish. If all closings expire a page stating that there are no
current closings is published.
The Auto Functions utility will also send an e-mail
message to administrators who requested them each time an announcement for
their organization is entered or updated.

|
 |
Data
Export
Also new to Storm 6 is the ability to export your data
from Storm's database to one of many formats for use by Spreadsheet, Word
Processing, or Database programs. The primary reason for export is
to allow you complete flexibility in creating form letters and mailing
labels that go beyond the basic "Mail Merge" functionality built
into Storm. The Data export window is shown below:

Closings
Summary
Once the closing rush is over you
can even print a summary of all closings aired sorted by organization
name. The summary report shows the organization name, contact(s),
mailing address, when the closing was taken, when it expired and a listing
of each time the closing was included in a prepared closing list. This
feature is great for stations which charge certain organizations for airing
closing and delay data!

An example of a summary report is
shown below. Note that each announcement is assigned a serial
number, which can optionally be give to the person requesting the
announcement. (Address lines are intentionally hidden for purposes of this
web display)
